Wolverhampton Speedway employers pledge to discover new place

Speedway club employers have promised to discover a brand-new place after news they can not remain at their home of 96 years.

Wolverhampton Speedway stated on 17 April they were devastated their occupancy contract for Monmore Green would not be extended beyond this promotion code season.

About 17,000 individuals have now signed a petition requiring it to be conserved.

But Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said the "amazing" support had caused talks with authorities about a new site.

"I 'd like to create our own location, I wish to be the primary holder of the tenancy and also produce something that is open 6 days a week to help train motorcyclists; to train children to take them off the streets."

He stated he had managed to bring an arena to Redcar and had acquired understanding from that project.

"I 'd like to be in a position where I can bring a speedway arena to the city of Wolverhampton," he said.

The reaction from people made him think this promotion code was possible.

"The amount of individuals that signed the petition has took my breath away. The support for this promotion code sport is rather amazing," he stated.

Mr Van Straaten said it would be an "tremendous" blow if it didn't take place, however added he was going to be positive and they had the rest of this year to look for a site.
